Frquently Asked Questions
Are your roller blinds child-safe?
At Blinds Melbourne Vic, all our blinds are complying with Australian safety regulations. All roller blinds are available with a child-safety cleat/hook which is used to secure the cord/ chain from loose. The Child-safety cleats/hooks tension the cords/chains which greatly reduces the chance of a child being entangled and prevent any other injuries caused by the cords/chains.
How to clean roller blinds?
Most roller blinds can be dusted by a brush, wiped by the normal wipers and can even be vacuumed by a small power machine. However, the different roller blind fabrics may require special or different methods for the cleaning. Please check with us or the fabric suppliers if you’re not sure about the ones that you have.
What’s the difference between Sunscreen Roller Blinds and Light Filter Roller Blinds?
The main difference is their fabrics. Sunscreen fabrics enable you to enjoy the view from outside, allow the natural light to come in and provide you with the daytime privacy at the same time. But during the night or when the inside is brighter than outside, the sunscreen fabric cannot provide you with privacy.
Light Filtering Rollers also known as translucent roller blinds, the light filter fabrics designed to block the view from both inside out and outside in. So, you have privacy during both day and nighttime. Also, you will still have the natural light come in at the same time.
Can I combine roller blinds with curtains or shutters?
Yes, you can! Traditionally, people always pair sheer curtains with blackout curtains or drapes. But now it’s becoming common to pair roller blinds with sheer curtains, blackout curtains and the plantation shutters. For example, Blackout Roller Blinds + Sheer Curtains are very popular now. The blockout rollers provide light control and privacy while sheer curtains add style and extra layer of light filter. For more combination options, please feel free to consult with our sales representatives.

How to measure the window sizes properly?
There are a few things you need to think about before you do the measurements.
Firstly, you need to decide if you want the blinds fitting inside of the window frame (recess fitting) or outside of the window frame (architrave fitting). For the recess fitting, simply measure the width and the drop of the inside of the window. For architrave fitting, just measure the outage of the window frame from one side to the other side for both width and the drop. Secondly, if your window is not totally square, you may also measure the sizes of the middle and the bottom of the window for allowance making. Lastly, if you want to hang the blinds above the window (top fitting), you need to add the sizes of the height as you need.
What is the biggest roller blind I can do?
Generally, for residential roller blinds, the maximum width is approx. 3.3 meters, and the maximum height is approx. 3.3 meters. But remember to check with our sales representative if your window or door is suitable for the big size blinds.
